What is deep water running?

Oh, it's only the best-kept secret in all of New York City! It's a most unique and effective venue for cross-training and rehabilitation for runners, or anyone looking for a zero impact, high-intensity workout. ​In this workout, we simulate land running, minus the impact. You will move your arms and legs as though you're running on land; the water and proper technique add another layer of challenge to the workout.

rehabilitation

The water has certain properties which lend itself to non-weight bearing resistance training. The most obvious is its buoyant effect. You can run in the water without any pounding on your feet or joints. Secondly, the water is viscous or thicker than air. As you move your arms and legs through the water you encounter a tremendous resistance. This resistance can be used to repair and strengthen muscles and joints.​
